Are you interested in having tutoring through the Internet? Here are answers to some questions about this form of tutoring. Please click on the pages above for other information about me and my lessons.

What do I need to begin?
You need a computer, such as a laptop or tablet.

Also, you need Skype (on your smartphone or computer), which you can use with or without a headset.  If you don’t have Skype, I can give you your own online Skype link that you can use instead.  In other words, you do not need to download Skype.

My Skype ID is sarahcarter5.

(Note: I use a headset when I tutor from my home office, so no one will hear you talk except me.)

What other technology do you use to tutor?
I use Google Docs, a free real-time document-sharing service, to help with my tutoring. This service is very useful during writing lessons because it allows both me and my students to view and edit a document at the same time. I also use Google Docs during speaking lessons to type in my students’ speaking corrections. This service is very easy to use. If Google Docs is not available in your country, I can use another file-sharing service.

What is your online schedule?
My schedule is from 12 pm to 9 pm AST/ADT (Atlantic Standard Time/Atlantic Daylight Time), Monday to Friday, which is -3 or -4 GMT, depending on the time of year. I also work on Saturday from 12 pm to 6 pm. Please click here for a time zone conversion website. Halifax, where I live, is listed as Canada – Nova Scotia – Halifax.

How can I pay?
Payments are made through e-transfer (within Canada) or PayPal, where you may pay with a credit card or use your own PayPal account. PayPal is a secure payment system used by millions throughout the world. Please go here to pay for my lessons. My account that you may send money to is esltutor500(at)gmail(dot)com.
